I don't think so.

Absolutely!! First, make sure you have software version 2.5. Then open up the software, find the album you want to edit in your collection, right click on the album, click edit and now you can edit all the pertinent info so it shows up nicely on your Zune, and you can add/update your album art at the same time.

Ok.
Just open the folder containing your album in Windows Explorer and edit them from there.

The reason it won't work for you is because you're trying to edit them from the "device" section of the software, you need to be in the "collection" section in order to do so. Trust me, I do it everyday.

Keep in mind that the info being edited is only changed in the software, when you go to the actual file on your computer the tags will remain unchanged. Alternatively, you can edit the tags of the actual file on your computer by right clicking on it, click properties, click the details tab and edit as needed. Doing it that way, the changes will reflect in both the actual file as well as in the software, assuming you have yours set to "sync all".

You forgot to add that in order for the changes to show up on the Zune, the music has to be removed from the Zune, then synced back onto it. The one exception to this is if the name of the song is changed in the Zune software, the name of the song will be changed on the Zune as well.

I have no clue why they would only have the name of the song change. If they can have the song name change, it should be really easy for them to make the rest of the metadata change as well. Just seems logical to me.

No I didn't because no it doesn't. The only reason you'd have to do that is if you manage your library manually instead of having it update automatically. All info changed in the software shows up in the Zune, not just song title.

Yeah, of course I manage it manually. So for me, the metadata tags do not get updated on the Zune. However, the song name does change on the Zune when I change it in the Zune software, even without any syncing. Hence why I thought that only the song name gets changed... because that's all that was happening.

the problem is when on a guest sync. you cant change the data ALREADY ON THE ZUNE without having to change in the software. i want to change the data on the zune only, because lately ive been using my laptop, which is a guest sync for my zune.

Sucks to be you

If you had read the last sentence in my post to which you responded, you wouldn't have responded the way you did because it would have been clear that I was referring to non-manually managed libraries. Have a nice day

Ah, now your question/dilemma is clear. You want to change the info ON YOUR ZUNE ONLY, no can do.

Actually, I think I was using Guest Mode at the time, because I wanted to delete the song/videos off of my computer without them being deleted off my Zune.

Now that I found a way to be able to be signed in and still remove things from my computer and keep them on my Zune, the metadata does change when I sync it. It's just that I completely forgot that my situation was different from normal in the past. I didn't change any metadata tags since I switched to signing in, so I didn't notice that it updates it automatically.

That's great though. Now I can have the metadata be updated automatically. Sorry that you can't have it do that though, iisubtanceii.

If you edit the tags before you put them on the Zune it's a non-issue, right?

Sweet. Sounds like it's all good for you then.
