Exclamation Remote Accessing Your Computer Thread...

is locked so I'll say it in here. In terms of computer security I would NOT recommend using the method of remote access outlined by Darren. Giving a 3rd party program total access to your computer has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of, and it could potentially open your computer to various threats.

It would be much smarter and safer for you guys to use the remote desktop application that Microsoft supplies with windows, and if you're on this forum interested in software graphic and firmware modifications for the zune I would hope you know how to forward ports and change settings on a computer, using Remote Desktop isn't rocket science.

In fact here is a tutorial on how to do it in XP:

What? Logmein is 100% safe, I wouldn't recommend anything but that or Webex(if they are still around). Logmein has been around since 2003. Some IT pros use it to connect with clients. You also don't have to be on a PC to use this.

(I guess I sound pretty flamey here.)

As Gregory said, LogMeIn is very safe, even their homepage is encrypted to ensure your safety.

Quote:
Is LogMeIn secure and what is SSL?

Yes. To prevent unauthorized access, LogMeIn requires you to enter separate passwords to access both your LogMeIn account and your Target PC's Windows login. LogMeIn uses 128- to 256-bit encryption to protect your passwords and data. It also includes such active defense features as IP filtering and lockout.

SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer, is a protocol used to encrypt data transmitted over the Internet. The SSL protocol is used by web sites that request confidential data such as credit card numbers or other private information. Web sites that use the SSL protocol have URLs that begin with https: rather than the standard http:. LogMeIn uses SSL to protect the data you transmit when accessing your computers remotely, as indicated by the padlock icon that appears when you visit the LogMeIn web site.

I think Darren is 14 to 15 years old, but maturity level wise, he's about 18 to 28.

Lol still, an encrypted homepage means nothing. If you think about it all it would probably take is one disgruntled employee or someone hacking into their DB to get login information for thousands and thousands of computers. Not worth the risk. If you're going to remote on your computer you should log directly into it, not through a 3rd party app.

oh, and they have remote desktop for macs, if you didn't know.
