Default Newb thread on how to and what to...

Reviewing this board last night made me realize two things. One, There is alot more I can do with my Zune. Two, I have no idea how to do any of it, this stuff is confusing as hell, but I want to learn.

About my Zune: I have gotten my media from 3 places: CDs, Limewire, and this site before media downloads were removed. Recently, (In the past month) my wife made the discovery, that everything we download doesn't have to be Mp4 format, that we could convert from a little program from youtube. We felt like Mega-geniuses with a secret no one else knew. We were wrong. Moving on...

As I said I have no prior practice or training in this stuff (software & computer apps) but have some questions hopefully some of you with time and patience can help me with. Please remember step by step would be grand, I'm like a toddler learning to run, so if I sound stupid don't take it personal, and if you get frustrated at me let me now, I'm big boy I can handle it.

1.) What is a torrent? How do I use one? Search on/for one? and assuming its a way to download programs why and how is it better then Limewire?

2.) Virus protection- What would you all recommend as a good, free anti-virus pgram?

3.) I don't understand these Zune hacks, what do I need/want them for? How will they enhance my Zune experience?

4.) Upload progams- I assume by now my Youtube converter is not the best or fastest way t convert, what do you use? Why is it better?

5.) If you would be so inclined tell me what you have far as programs, hacks, ect. that have helped you become the Almighty Zune Masters you have become. Help me soak this stuff up.

Probably many questions more to come, but on the bright side if you teach me, you'll have one more member who can help others. Thanks for listening and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Question Is there a tutorial on how to use video podcasts with Flash

After looking at the software that comes with the Zune, which looks like a Director based application, I was wondering if this could be accomplished in Flash, because they are both very similar.

Does anyone know of where I could find more information on video podcasting and flash?

Thanks.

I dont know a direct definition but its like a compressed file that directs you to peers that have the content you want.

The torrent works by downloading the file you want in parts, so you get different parts from different peers.

To use one you need a torrent client, I suggest utorrent.

Its better than Limewire because before you download a torrent you can check the comments to ensure it is the correct file.

For a free one, I would suggest AVG Free. Also grab Spybot for spyware.

None of them are the zune device they all enhance the zune software e.g. changing the BG to a custom one and such things as syncing through WMP.

zAlternator (allows you to sync using other media players)

HDD Hack (allows you to drag and drop from and to the zune device)

Download the .FLV files and convert using a third party converter such as WinAvi. Its better because you can choose the attributes.

Here's some free converters.
