this has been answered multiple times, click search above and type zAlternator. Or simply read the posts in this thread.
Go zAlternator + MediaMonkey! Goodbye Zune software!
I followed the steps exactly. Even had to go on the internet to find a .wmv file to load onto the zune.
Cannot synchronize with the Zune though. MediaMonkey and WMP11 both see the zune, but I don't have access to it in WMP11 and MediaMonkey acts like it's going to sync it, but flies through it was too quickly and doesn't work.
The only time I could sync with it was when the .wmv video was syncing to the zune. I unplugged the zune before it finished, reattached the zune, and now nothing syncs. Any help guys?
Hi all, This is very frustrating.
I've applied the HD patch.
I've used zAlternator.
I've unintalled all Zune software with UnZoone.exe
I've redone everything.
What I stand right now.
Reinstalled Zune 2.3 software (bleech!)
That is Adding all my media again - so the zune and software are out of sync.
Applied HD patch again.
Run zAlternator and it is set to Generic WPD.
Media Monkey lets me see my Zune, Delete files&folders but cannot copy/sync to it.
I can delete in Windows explorer but nothing else.
I am the Admin user under XP.
Microsoft's ZuneDevice.exe is not much help ( although it did show some files (DLLs) and reg entries that I thought UnZoone.exe would have take care of.
SO I have 2 questions:
1) the HD Patch, should it make my Zune Read/Write ( I have 2 icons for it).
2) When I sync with MediaMonkey will I need to configure it so that it matches the format of the ZUne folders?

Thanks.
josh,i was having the same problem as you as far as the zune not wanting to sync with MM.the way i was able to get it to work was to use the program called "killzune".follow the instructions from the original poster, but instead of using cont+alt+del, use the killzune program.it worked perfect for me and now it syncs with MM.page 3,post 59 of this thread has a link to killzune.

first off, great post Dizzy! the tutorial was really easy to follow and extremely helpful in providing a different way to sync than through the lame and sluggish Zune software.
Yesterday, i followed the instructions and was able to sync music from Media Monkey straight to my Zune folder. however today, My zune software will not sync to my zune so that i can start the initial process of syncing, to then kill the zune software, and use ZAlt and MediaMonkey to sync.
ive tried repeatedly restarting my pc, and the zune device itself, and i hear the USB chime, and can see my Zune in Windows Explorer because of the HDD Patch, and I can see my Zune in Media Monkey, however, the Zune software under "Status" in Device mode, keeps displaying "Connect a Zune Device..."
any suggestions would be more than helpful. Thanks

Make sure you switch zAlt back to "Zune" once you're done syncing with MediaMonkey.
And thanks

i ended up figuring that out once i got home from work. i guess i was trying to rush things during my lunch break and couldnt put one and one together. lol thanks for the prompt response.
p.s. i think you should include that in the tutorial... for the technically challenged, like me.
