Sync your Zune using MediaMonkey and zAlternator

Okay, I must be stupid. Because I can't get it to work...or maybe I don't understand everything. Why do I need Media Monkey? I did the whole ZAlernator part and got my Zune to show up on WMP11, but I can't sync. I get this error message:Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct. This is very frustrating. I got the Zune as a gift because it is an 8GB and has room for all my music, but this is a pain in the @ss. I hate the software. I just want to access the stupid thing from WMP11 like I used to do with my Zen.

You don't need mediamonkey, that's just what I prefer and what I've gotten it to work on.

If you get that error message, it means you're not unlocking it properly.
Follow the tutorial EXACTLY up until the point where it says to open mediamonkey and instead open WMP.

This is my problem.

I did everything that everyone said. And got Media monkey Gold (i love this program, simply is the best) and it see's my Zune! yay! However, I cant put anything onto the device. Any sugestions?

However I will continue to use the Zune software because, well... I love my Zune too. So if I could have Media Monkey AND my Zune? Well I think that would be the closest thing to heaven on Earth for now.

It might take a few times opening and closing the software before it works.
Make SURE you put Generic WPD on zAlt.

eh, after a HD format.. and to try using this again, i just find it easier NOT to end zune in task manager.. it still works, but takes an extra 10 seconds to snyc to zune player.

should i move all the questions? this is teaching you how to do this stuff.. Its a tutorial.. It shouldnt be support. So im thinking bout making a seperate thread. Dizzy would you want me to do that? or you can do that yourself.

Everything seemed to be working. I got all the way to being in Media Monkey with the Zune showing on the file tree. Media Monkey even told me it was synching the songs I selected. However, it went suspiciously fast and when I disconnected my Zune - nothing. Ideas? HELP!

Make sure your tags are ID3 v2.4 Iso-8
Otherwise there's a chance they ended up as "unknown artist"

I downloaded zAlternator and Mediamonkey yesterday, set up zAuto Unlocker to unlock the zune, run zAlternator, then MediaMonkey.

I connected my zune and It worked perfectly, in just a few clicks the zune was unlocked, the wpd provider was changed, and media monkey began syncing my files to the zune.

im having a problem thats causing me to pull the little bit of hair i have out of my scalp! ive done this whole process maybe 7 times since i found it and it refuses to work. in mm it doesnt show any devices, and when i click on the sync with device tab it says there is no device. this is drivin me crazy cuz im sorta ocd when it comes to my music bein organized. i even went and added pictures to all the music i have that dont have album pictures just to make sure that wen im lookin at my zune theres always a picture there. then i read a thread that said something about the mp4 file u use to sync has to be at least 30 mb. is this tru? cuz if so the file i was using is too small. i really want this to work so can some one plz help me

The size of the video file doesn't matter.

Make sure you have the HDD hack installed.

yea ive got the hack on my computer...wen do i activate it ? b4 the whole thing or after i do the video sync? but ive done everything right as far as i know....im drivin myself to drink with this thing

Once you activated the HDD hack, it'll stay activated regardless of whether you turn off the computer or not.

Do it before you try the process

Minor problem I need some help with...

I'm trying to sync one album in particular to the Zune using MM, but it won't show up on there even when it says all the tracks were synched.

It used to show up partially normal with album art and the rest would end up in an "unknown" folder.

At first I tried to delete it through the zune software, but could I delete the unknown folder as the partial album wasn't listed.

I found it when I went into the Zune (the HDD way) and deleted the folder.

Now I'm trying to sync again and it won't show up at all.

Anyway to fix this problem? Did I mess something up? Also will this cause some errors as far the Zune or PC reading how much space is actually left?\

Edit: Tried is again, now it shows up partially as an album, the rest in the unknown folder, and four tracks won't even show up now! I'm done with that album for now >_<

followed the very clear tutorial and got this to work on the first attempt. only thing out of the ordinary is on my end as there are some "Unknown Artist" tags, but who cares - this approach is SOOOO much better than working via the Zune software.
