What I really want to do is play music from my zune on my computer without copying it over to the HD (like in itunes). I can't seem to do this through Media Monkey. Has anyone else gotten this to work?

I have gotten to a part where my zune is listed in media monkey and when connected says syncing...yet nothing is happening with files at all. Not even a listing of new files that arent on my Zune..yet i would like them to be : ) I have the zune software still installed and when i run it...the sync part is missing : )...Oh and the Zune doesn't react to media monkey...even when media monkey says it is syncing. Any ideas.....? Thank You too everyone for reading : )

Is anybody else having a problem with large numbers of tracks ending up as "Unknown Album" on the zune?

I've synced about half my collection of approx 10 thousand tracks, but the majority end up tagged as "Unknown Album". These tracks also fail to appear in the "Artists" list, even though the artist name does appear when you play them.

They're all fine in MediaMonkey.

p.s. it's my first day as a zune owner... zAlternator pushed me off the fence

I have a problem i can't get it to work with Vista 64bit. It works fine with XP. I just can get the ZUNE to show up in WMP11 OR MediaMonkey

For those of you having trouble when syncing... I went though the process the first time and in media monkey it said it was syncing and then after I disconnected there were no files on my zune. I re-executed all the steps and "SUCCESS!!!" You have to make sure the Zune device still says syncing when you open media monkey. If you disconnect the device and attempt to reconnect and open media monkey your sync will not be complete. The connection for sync has to remain intact for the sync with media monkey to work. I'm not sure if you will have to do this everytime you sync but at least it works. DEATH TO THE ZUNE APP!!!!!

Just to verify, I can't load movies or pictures into Zune if I am using MM and zAlternator right?

Thanks for the great tutorial Dizzy! This works great, I encountered only one problem. When using the zAlternator make sure you run it as admin (with Vista). After that I was able to change the provider and it synced no problem.

I couldn't be happier.. Just got the Zune 80 like 2 weeks ago and was disappointed I couldn't use Media monkey, but now thanks to Pity and Dizzy I can.

Also, when syncing it no longer corrupts my mp3's! Nice. Way to go Zuneboards!!

A note to others:
MediaMonkey does not do video, so you'll still have to use WMP/Zune Software/HD Hack for that. Sorry.

loslonelyman, make sure you unlock it properly, and do the switch with zAlt. BTW, love los lonely boys

Now. Hrm. Anyone know if it's possible to autotag from the web stuff that's already ON the zune?

And if so, how should one handle the Album Art?

I was able to mess with tags on the zune for media i have already synced via MM, but I think you're still not able to mess with any of the other metadata for pre-existing songs. I may be wrong. I know for a fact you can't play off your zune though

EDIT: I found out I was wrong.

As an added bonus, you CAN re-tag songs already on the zune
