Hey Guys,
I'm new here, I just got my Zune 30 a little while ago, and let me just say, that I absolutely love it! And on top of it I signed up for Zune Pass, and I've downloaded so much music it makes my head spin. Anyways, I read around and I see alot of people asking how to convert videos, and everyone always give them complicated answers or tell them to buy software, but I've been doing it a different way that works perfectly and is free, and best of all everyone has it ![]() How to: All you need to do is use Windows Movie Maker. Just run it, drag and drop your movie file into it, then drag it onto the timeline and then go File, Save Movie File and so on. Just let it choose the "Best quality for playback on my computer" which is already 4:3 aspect ratio 320x240 pixels and 30 fps. (You could also choose another quality depending on what you want, as long as it is the same aspect ratio) Hit next and you're all set. And then, the Zune Software doesn't have to convert it again to put it on your Zune. Also when I want to get videos from youtube ect I just use vdownloader (Free simple little program and easy to use) and take the files that it spits out and put them right into WMM. Edit: Like faceofbass mentioned download the K-Lite Codec Pack so that you can add any video format to WMM. The standard version of the pack has most if not all of the codecs that you would need. Links: K-Lite Codec Pack: free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm vdownload: vdownloader.es/download.html Just thought that I should mention it since it works for me maybe it will work for others. ![]() Last edited by kiden : 11-29-2007 at 07:33 PM. |

this is a pretty good tip, but i recommend using it for shorter video clips as it takes upwards of 3 hours to convert full length movies

there is also an easy way to convert videos with VLC, which is a free media player that will play just about any video file known to man, or woman, for anyone that would like i can post a tutorial on how to do it.

I think something like this gets mentioned every now and then, but nothing formal's been written up until now. Ergo, yay.
