Categorizing Videos On The Zune
Here is a tutorial for organising tv shows into seasons.
Firstly, your going to need a tag editing program I suggest TigoTago
Start the program and click File and locate your files.
It should look something like this:
Right click the file and then click "Advance Edit".
You will then need to change the the following Primary and Secondty ID's to:
Primary ID: db9830bd-3ab3-4fab-8a37-1a995f7ff74b
Secondary ID: ba7f258a-62f7-47a9-b21f-4651c42a000e (Note - this is the secondary ID for TV Shows only)
Movies = A9B87FC9-BD47-4BF0-AC4F-655B89F7D868
TV Shows = BA7F258A-62F7-47A9-B21F-4651C42A000E
Music Videos = E3E689E2-BA8C-4330-96DF-A0EEEFFA6876
Then click the general tab and change the following:
Title: Season/Show Name
Album Title: Episode number
Track Number: Episode number so they are ordered by number not name
Then continue doing the same to all the episodes
and thats it sync them and your done.
Hope that helps.

Sadly, this didn't work for me. The shows were all grouped correctly under "TV Shows", but the episode names were gone and the sort order was (apparently) random.
I found a partial solution inside the Zune desktop app:
I changed the Title of each file to the show name (same as your solution), and added both the episode number and episode name to the Subtitle field (this can by enabled by right-clicking on the column headers, selecting 'Choose Columns' and placing a check next to 'Subtitle'). Now the episode info shows up correctly on the Zune, in the right folders.
The sort order, however, is based on the "Date Recorded" field, and I have not found any utility that will let me change it. If anyone knows of one......

This is going to be really handy for me since next time I'm on my not-a-piece-of-**** PC I'm going to be ripping some TV show DVDs for my Zune.

quick and easy way
This is an easy way to order your videos by type, name, and episode order if used. Helps with organizing long lists of different types of videos.
After converting the video to your desktop, or where ever you have it set to convert to;
1) single left click the title description so that you can edit the name of your video.
2) Name it "Movie - " or "TV -" or "Music -" (whatever type of video you desire)
3)Add the title i.e. "The Office" or "Tears of the Sun"
4)This step is for TV shows only. Add the season number, then a dash, then episode number. i.e. "1-2"
You will end up with a list looking something like this;
Movie - 300
Movie - The Big Lewbowski
TV - The Unit 1-1
TV - The Unit 1-2
So, now you have an alphabetical order to types of video, broken into an alphabetical order of the titles, broken further down into season and episode number.

Very neat i didn't think you could have the videos in the zune split into category's like that!
I also found a list of secondary IDs on msdn, dont know if they will work with the zune, but i am going to try them.

wait... you can categorize with the zune 2.5 update now cant you?
it seems to work fine for me by just right clicking on a video, then click edit.
then you can put it in tv (series, special, or news), music, movie, or other.
