Washington Post says they have proof

The Washington Post says they have proof that a new iPhone NANO is in the works along with a wi-fi enabled iPod. This news shows Apple has taken notice of the Zune and will incorporate an original Zune features to try and stay ahead.

What is still left to be seen is if iPods will be able to share music like the Zune. This writer believes Apple will shy away from this feature and instead utilize the wi-fi to be able to upload/buy songs directly from iTunes via hot spots. Let's face it, Apple would stand to gain some revenue from that - not sharing (which is the one thing they're looking at).

That's my opinion and is purely speculation but I do believe it will all become more clear this Wednesday when Apple is holding a special iPod event called "the Beat Goes On."

Anyone feeling a little anxiety over this event? Will Zune have enough to compete? This time next month we shall all see...

I hope it's just an announcement that they'll have South African Music available on iTunes...but it's doubtful....

Well that's the thing, the iPhone nano will be priced lower to entice more people. The new video iPod will probably be extremely expensive since it'll be incorporating iPhone technology (my guess is no less than $350)....we shall see wednesday...

not really....MS is actually using an open technology (wi-fi)...so it's not copyrightable....

I think its kinda crazy to say they are taking that feature from the Zune. We don't even know what they are going to do with it yet. Assuming it even has WiFi.

My guess would be if apple was going have Sharing between iPods(And probably iPhones), They would go Bluetooth(They have a long history with bluetooth in products). But I don't see that feature happening.

As for the idea of being able to buy & download music via Hot Spots is neat, it would take a lot of change. The DRM management system would have to allow you to transfer songs(And probably videos too) you downloaded from some random hotspot off the iPod, store them onto the computer, then authenticate it to that specific computer.. Its not impossible, But I think its too early for something like that.

Newest rumors this morning are the new iPod will have DIGITAL radio in them....by tomorrow, they'll probably come complete with you own eternal salvation, a swiss army knife-like utility, and bring world peace....or atleast that's what the iFanbois will think....
