Default laptop battery charging questions

Hey guys

I have a li-ion laptop battery, and i'm wondering whether or not to I need to discharge it completly before I recharge it again. I'm mostly at my desk often, so I don't have a traveling issue. To what percentage should I use my battery until I should charge it back in? 40%? Also, I heard that if you keep the AC plugged in, even at 100%, your battery won't loose any charge cycles. On the other hand, I also heard that keeping your battery charged all the time will deplete the life. Could you guys help me?

Thanks!

If you're really worried, when your battery is charged and you're using AC, just take out the battery

With My laptop,an older HP pavillion(by older I mean a 4-5 years), I always left it plugged in the wall and the battery pretty much died it wouldn't hold a charge any longer. I bought a new battery for it and i let it get down to around 20% power before i charge it back up and it works fine.
