Default Getting a New Phone Monday

Hey my "new phone" date is monday and i REALLY want a good one. I have ~$150 and ive been looking at the blackberry curve, the LG env 2, and the samsung glyde. (if you cant tell im on verizon) its my dads business contract and he has a blackberry so i think i can get on the plan without the extra 50 bucks. any suggestions other than these?

You didn't really state what you will be doing with the phone or what your looking for in a phone. If you go with a BlackBerry you will be forced to choose "Email and Web for BlackBerry® - $29.99/month" or "Blackberry® Solution Unlimited Data Usage - $44.99/month". The Keyboard on the Env2 is nice, but the tiny external screen is pitiful. I would recommend the Alias over the Env2 anyday. The Glyde has a nice size screen and the keyboard feels great but its very thick and chunky... I have been planning a switch to Verizon and I've messed around with their phones on a few occasions and have decided on the LG Dare.

Verizon is in talks about quitting the contract plans and moving to the no contract plans. When and if it will happen is still up in the air but if it goes through - good news for you.

If you go to the Verizon website you can shop by 1-year contract, 2-year Contract and Month-By-Month. I'm not sure how long they have been doing it, but its new to me as of last night. Its insane they want to charge $409.99 for the LG Dare of you choose Month-To-Month.

Probably trying to get all the money out of a person up front and have the contract plans seem more appeasing. After all, a contract means money in the bank for a period of time, whereas month to month means a possible drop in the money supply.

Though it seems the contract is optional just got done on 22 Sep 2008.

It’s Official: Verizon Wireless says contracts are optional : Boy Genius Report

Some more info regarding that for anyone interested in Verizon or uses Verizon mobile service.

Well yea, I understand charging the full price of the phone. But that price just seems crazy for that phone.

Get the Blackberry Curve. It is an amazing phone and the data plan makes it worth the money. It has a great web browser and wonderful apps. Plus v4.5 OS is out which adds html email and flash support to web

I was totally checking that phone out. If I didn't plan on texting/emailing very often I probably would get it.

I send/receive about 300 texts a day and I have no problems with it but that is all personal preference. I also have been using the built in bluetooth headset more than i thought i would. Its not great quality but it works.
