skull candy smoke ink'd is crappy sound quality to be honest, if i were you, i would have gone with JVC Marshmallow for that price. JVC Marshmallow has good bass and sound quality for below $20. V-moda earphones are mostly all about bass from what i've heard and some of those earphones are under $50 also.

I would recommend you trying the JVC Marshmallow first though and see how much you like it, sometime for this earphone, you can find it between $7-$15 at some places.

From Head-fi.org

"0" denotes amp usually included/bundled

"2" denotes amp recommended.
"3" denotes amp required.

Under $70

IEM/Earbud
1-JVC Marshmallow (FX33, 34) ($15) Bassy, recessed mids and highs. I love them with rock. Great value. Kramer mod helps these a lot.
1-Creative ep630 ($23)
1-JVC Air Cushion ($30) These sound similar to the marshmallows, but with better detail and no recessed mids/highs.
1-Sennheiser cx300 ($30) Lovely midrange, and very strong bass (although uncontrolled) Highs are the weakness of this phone.
1-Yuin pk3 ($39)
1-Jays j-jays ($50)
1-Shure e2c ($60)
1-Crossroads Mylarone x3i/xbi ($57 and $65)
1-Yuin pk2 ($69)
1-Etymotic er6 ($70) Very detailed. Good mids/highs. Slightly lacking the bass department
1-Ultimate Ears Super.Fi.3 ($70)
1-V-moda Vibe($70) Very muddy, not a lot of detail. no highs to speak off.
2-Altec Lansing im716 ($100) Currently on sale @buy.com for $49

Skull Candy ftw.

I have Skull Candy Smokin' Buds as well, and they are/were worth the $45+ (Best Buy) and they pwn Prem-HeadPhones from Zune/Texas. You mustn't have purchased a good pair?

1ofamillion,

The Head-fi quote is made up of headphones that have made the cut, i.e. are worth buying.

Best places to look are Buy.com, J&R Audio or Amazon.com if you want to get the items on-line. Head-fi.org also has a list of other retailers but prices might vary. The Jays and the Yuins have alot of talk about them on Head-fi and so do the V-Moda, however the Jays and the Yuin PK-3 are the only two within the price range. Check Head-fi for some reviews of the two, JAYS q-JAYS Review is a review from AnythingbutIpod onthe Jays Q-Jays.

Happy hunting.

This is almost too easy. What your looking for are V-Moda Bass Freqs! The bass is great and the overall sound quality is fantastic. And to top it off they are extremely comfortable and cancel out sound very well. I Promise you will not be disappointed and won't ever go back to Skulllcandy's. They go for $45-$50 in stores but on Amazon.com the price jumps around like crazy($19-$35) almost daily. And on ebay sometimes you can score the black ones for $12-$18. But really if I needed to, I would be willing to pay $50 for them. If you do decide to give them a go, let me know how you like them.

I think I'm going to stick with the JVC Air Cushion headphones for $17 plus tax on amazon. The reviews are good i think they will be good. Thanks for all the suggestions, Gow616 and all the others who suggested.

Somehow I've got the feeling that the OP doesn't want Skullcandy. Why does everyone keep reccommending them?
