With all the rumors and pictures circulating regarding the 4th gen iPod, it seems pretty imminent.

I think its pretty clear by now we will be seeing a new iPod Nano. But I'm hoping the whole iPod line is going to get Completly revamped. I'm also hoping for some major changes in iTunes 8.

Not sure how much more revamped it can be then when it went to the iPod Touch.
With the "classic" notation on the traditional style, I'm curious to see if they'll work with it any more.

Steve Jobs will walk on stage and be applauded, then start talking in monotone; His monotone voice hypnotizes the audience as he shows off direct ripoffs from Zune. The entire audience applauds as they think he is done, then he says "Oh, and one more thing." and shows off some stupid new gimmicky device.

I am also hoping for some changes in 8. But you never know, and the 4gen will more than likely air at that time, and some new Mac software, like OS X snow leopard will probably be debuted.

Changes to the overall design of the players and a better pricing scheme could both be huge. Currently all the iPods are quite flat and "sharp", But if you look at the iPhone 3G you will see its more rounded off and smooth. Which is a style Apple has been moving all its products towards..

Last year when they announced the iPod Touch I was expecting it would take the place off the "Classic" by this time. I think Apple probably would have liked to do it this year but with Flash prices still so high I think it might be another year or so before that happens.. It will be interesting to see what they do.

even the first gen iphone was semi-sleek compare to the touch itself, but the 3g has a plastic material for the back.

But they have done well on garnering attention for it.

What we expect? Something new.

What we will see? Same old thing in a new box, nothing really new except the box that it comes in.

Hopefully, they announce that they will quit giving iPhone users the preferential treatment and show some of that love to iPod Touch users. Also bringing a 64gb Flash Player to market for the price of the 80gb Zune/iPod (currently) would be nice but I don't expect them to do that, instead they will charge twice the price for it.

Flash memory capacity has increased and the flash chip prices have decreased BUT we don't see this reflected in the DAP market.
