Default maximizing screen real estate in firefox.

I use firefox, and before using opera I never had a problem with the large size of the toolbars. my UI looked like this:

Then I saw opera, and how it showed a little more of the screen:

This effect was amplified when I added a small skin:

so I decided to tweak firefox and I got this:

anyone interested in how I did it?

Instead of trying to get FF to suck less, why not just have everyone use Opera? Bada-bing, problem solved. Firefox is basically an IE with bells and whistles, whereas Opera is fully-featured and muh more intuitive. I've even got a skin-which can be installed right out of the options without going to a website or having to restart the browser-which makes the black bar even smaller. Simple, easy, just plain works. Opera is epic win.

I would be interested, but my parents use this computer too, and they'd complain that the buttons are too small...

It doesn't need them. It has more features, plus widgets. I've seen numerous FF add-ons that basically add functionality found standard in Opera, like Open Tabs Relative or Stylish. That theme is called...I'll get back to you on that; I'm on a computer without Opera right now, and I don't have my flash drive(with Opera on it, automatically synchronizes all my stuff too, standard feature). But it's right at the top of the list.

ones I use that arent in opera(in a way that I find suitably close enough): Ad Block Plus(sure there is content block but you have to manually do it, or dl a urlfilter which doesnt auto update) better gmail 2, DownThemAll, GmailNotifier(takes me to my gmail, intead of some second opera inbox) NoScript, Remove It Permenantly, and Tab Mix Plus.

the add ons make it customizable who cares about standard when you can pick and choose what you want from a long list of stuff... and NOTHING beats add blocker plus, best thing ever

Instant Web Site IDWhat on Earth is that?
Improved PerformanceDebatable. Most certainly not on my computer.
Full ZoomAre you refering to F-11? I'm pretty sure most major browsers have that. If that's not it, well then I have no idea what you could mean. Though, Opera has a zoom selector in the bottom right, as well as Ctrl-Scroll support
Password ManagerOpera's is more encompasing, has keyboard shortcuts, and is smarter and easier to manage
Smart Location BarEh?
Platform-Native Look & FeelIn other words, Mac theme...Ya know, Opera has themes too, and they can be installed from right inside the browser
Anti-MalwareNot without an anti-malware program, unless you refer to lists of unsafe sites, which Opera has too.
Parental Controls
Anti-Virus Software (yours integrated)
Clear Private DataOpera does this better
Customized Security SettingsDitto
Useful Add-onsYou mean bloated add-ons? There are a heck of a lot of crappy ones to weed through
Automated UpdateOpera's got it too.
Anti-PhishingDitto
Pop-Up BlockerAgain

And a lot more.
Also, Opera has

Voice Navigation
Smarter Tab Manager
More customizable GUI
Automatic Online Synchronization
A powerful session manager
A better download manager, with BitTorrent support built in
Mail integration
Notes(very useful for saving snippets of information)

Opera has a wide variety of features, some of which FF can emulate, but only through add-ons. It is less secure and more of a target than Opera. Its tab management sucks(Opera's even got thumbnail preview, which I'm fairly certain still isn't a FF standard feature) The only thing that Firefox has on it is that the add-ons are better than widgets, however, the add-on system is full of useless things, with some of the better ones aimed at making up for FF's deficiencies in features that Opera has.

Or you can just have these features on the thing in the first place.
