Default Mac Users

Okay, so I'm not looking for a debate, if that's what you want then head over to the flame board and post on the thread "Mac Programming" I'm just taking a serious poll here.

If you USE a mac or HAVE used one for more than a week, then this thread is for you. If not, then you're still allowed to post and voice your opinions.....as long as there are no debates. Please debate in the other thread as I will likely be over there too.

Just tell me what you think guys.

I love Macs, to be honest, it's the userbase I have a problem with mostly. Macs are really simple and are pretty much narrow but complete. Troubleshooting them, at least internet connections, is a lot more simple then windows, as there is an actual release DHCP button built right into the configuration. Love them, love mine.

Mac...users? No one uses a Mac, they just partake in the Mac experience and if they get something done, good for them.

Well, to be serious, I've used Macs and PC's, and I find PC's to be a lot simpler. I've had to do tech support for some Mac owners, and it takes a long time for me to get anything done. Linux was easier for me to get used to than Mac(Granted, that was Ubuntu, but still, it seemed much more usable, much less obscured). Macs make for some nice eye candy, but there's an equal amount of eye candy for Windows users who know how to use deviantART. They've got tons of great mods, and all of 'em free. The one thing I like about the Mac is the dock. However, I'm rather stuck on a bottom placed taskbar. I've got RK Launcher on my computer, hidden on the top, and it works great. That's about all the Mac I can handle; no iTunes for me. Besides, if I had a Mac, using my Zune could be a pain!

I own a MacBook, and i have to say it is one of the best computers, Desktop or Laptops, I have ever owned. I love the way it works and the usefulness of some of the programs. and I also have Pro Tools 7 HD on here nd i have to say I love it even more.

I miss having a Mac in the house... damn lightning saw to that.

I've always liked OS10 for professional use. It just streamlined things so much for me. Windows has been pretty cool to mess around with. BBLean was a blast to get configured and running on my home XP box. I'm really tempted to do it again, but my wife can't stand it.

once a mac gets into your hands...there's no comparison with a PC, the sleek, simple, and overwhelming power of a mac is better than any PC out there.

So long as you don't screw with windows, its pretty simple to use too... And intel macs weren't around when I decided to go PC. I had to have my HL2 addiction taken care of after all.

A computer is a tool. I'll use what ever tool I have to get the job done, preferably in the least amount of time possible. Now as to the statement of ubuntu being easier to use than OS10... that was not the case for me. When I installed ubuntu on my PC I nearly pulled all my hair out getting it to work. Once it did it was fine... until I updated it to the newest version. Then it screwed everything up all over again. I wanted to like it. I really did!

Both XP and OS10 rate about the same in my book. The thing I will give OS10 for is not its simplicity, it can be just as frustrating as any of the other OSes out there, but it is by far the elegant of them all. It just sexy to use. The Zune is the same way. The UI is elegant. The iPod seems clunky to me.

Macs are good for messing around with and editing/mixing music.. A lot of bands i currently like use macs to do most of their stuff.. Editing music with a PC is like pulling teeth unless you want to throw down the cash for some good software.

Umm.
I've used a mac and a pc.
I hate macs with a burning jesus passion.
Plus most macs aren't as powerful as pcs.
Oh yeah it's got 2gb of ram and a 2.6ghz processor.
OH NOES.
For that price you can get 6gb of ram and a QUAD CORE 2.6 ghz processor with a built in cup holder.
Oh and you can play games on it.

Lulz at the cupholder, and arguably a quad core processor will be faster than 2.6ghz.

I prefer pc.
1. general hate for apple and their "charge more for being 'hip'"
2. only area I have ever heard of ANY benefit over pc is in media production, which I dont do. and even If I did, there are programs for windows that do what I need.
3. If I want osx, i'll rig it on an intel pc. save a crap load of money
4.unintuitive UI. windows xp, even vista is easier to me. heck, xubuntu was easier.

linux>windows>mac to me, but I dont game or make media.

ive only used mac afew times mostly to compare how it stacks up against my AMD I also went head to head with HP, Dell, Gateway , the only pc that could take mine was the alienware area 51 9600, keep in mind that all these pc's and macs were running much better processers and the newest os's, Mine is AMD Athlon 6 times upstepping 2ghz single processer, 1 gig ram but i can go up to 6 gigs and will next month[watch out alienware], nvidia geforce 6200 ** 256 ddr2 ram, 250 gig hdd, windows xp sp3 full network and IT. all of the pc's were running similar ghz except they had dual core intells,Vista, 1 gig of ram 80 gig hdd, idont remember what vid cards they had but alienware had the geforce 7200 512 ram with turbocache. my uncle owns 2 G3's with somewhat similar processers, ram, and i beat those head to head in speed graphics music and movies, I admit they were more stylish than mine but my AMD boots Up in10 seconds and is ready to go immediatly, keep in mind my uncle is an apple guru and even he was impressed, although my AMD is faster and more versatile iwas impressed with some of the programs but i found out that they work on my pc also, which is why I expound at The AMD's versatility. Next I went head to head with my uncles 3 G4's, thinking that there was no way that my lil ole AMD could keep up, with OSX,3ghz dual core processer,4 gig ram,130 gig hdd and a similar vid card as i have. Again I and my uncle were taken aback, my amd kept pace with this supposed powerhouse, forgive me but the proof is in the pudding. I cant wait for my upgrades then im going after my unc's new G5 with Quad core. So yes Macs are impressive but I only spent $300 dollars to build a computer that would cost me $1500 for a pc and $4000 for mac, and I look forward to going head to head which means pure power handling, computer processing, number crushing that is THE AMD!

I prefer pc, but still like macs just as much for the things I like using macs for; browsing, editing pictures and video, ect. Gaming = Pc all the way though.

From what i understand editing and graphic design (be it photo editing, video or music) is much, much better on a Mac. With that said I don't have anything against any Mac products per se, I just don't like the price tag.

My HP Pavilion dv6000t was well priced, incredibly balanced (except the graphics card, which was my own fault for being cheap!) and does the job nicely. Well, now that it has Linux. I won't get started on Vista, I just won't. WAAAYYY too buggy for me, thank you.

If you're one of the few who've got Vista to work, all power to you. Personally I like (gasp!) Ubuntu. It works well, isn't as big, doesn't use as many resources as MS-based programs, stable...the list goes on but if I needed to use a Mac, or if I had one I'd definitely use it for my photo editing and such.

You're right! Who cares if it costs 4x more than a comparable PC configuration! Nothing beats the sheer simplicity of a glossy screen and dumbed down UI!

Sorry, I just really can't stand macs at all. I've troubleshooted both macs and PCs, and when things DO go wrong, it's at least 100x easier to fix the problem on a PC, because at least the operating system doesn't figh
