Default SkullCandy

I'm looking at purchasing a pair of good over the ear headphones.
I've been looking at the SkullCandy Terje NINE's and the SkullCandy Hesh Stereo DJ's.
Terje NINE [SC-TERJE] : Skullcandy
Hesh [SC-HESH] : Skullcandy
I can get the Hesh's for like $23 from BB with my discount.
The Terje NINE's on the other hand I have to order from SkullCandy and I can get them for $70.00 + shipping.
In your opinion, besides on price what would be the better ones to go with.

personally i don't know the quality difference between the two... i'm sure you could get the cheaper ones and not notice the difference.

I would save your money on the Hesh if you are going to spend that much and grab sealed can Sennheisers instead.

Sennheisers are quite nice, personally, I do all my mixing with my monitors and a pair of Hesh. I chose the Hesh for the small drivers which means flat frequency response, so for beat matching I have to listen pretty closely. The cups aren't swivel, which sucks, but are still quite nice. I'd go with the Nine's if you are willing to spend that much (even those are kind of low end). If anything I'd go with AKG if you don't mind the price...

My absolute favorite are Technic RPDH1200's (~$200 new ).

Also, keep in mind Technics is owned by Panasonic since the 90s or so when Panasonic bought them (worst day in Technics history for audiophiles of their products).

Amazon.com: PANASONIC RP-DJ1200A Foldable DJ...Amazon.com: PANASONIC RP-DJ1200A Foldable DJ...
Looks like their Technics model but branded with Panasonic at $115.

If one is just going for headphones and not DJ style headphones, Sennheiser, AKG, Grado or Alessandro will do the trick.

Skullcandy is a horrible brand of headphones, very bad relative sound quality, stick with quality brands like Sennheiser, Denon, AKG, Beterdynamic, Grado, etc.

How loud headphones get depends on impedance and sensitivity. Really, you don't want to be turning up headphones extremely loud, and damaging your hearing, so if you're gonna be using them on the go, in noisy environment, you want closed-back headphones, that block out some sound, or in-ears. For good closed-back phones at a decent price, these are good:

These are the ones that I have: Amazon.com: AKG Closed-Back Foldable DJ...Amazon.com: AKG Closed-Back Foldable DJ...
That is an amazing price for them. They have superior sound quality compared to anything that costs under $100.

They're not decent, they're overpriced crap (I've heard the Hesh, Lowriders, Smokin Buds, Full Metal Jackets). People like them because they look "cool" and they're well marketed and widely available, once someone tries some quality headphones, there's very little chance they'll still be praising Skullcandy, it's almost always people who have a very limited headphone experience that praise Skullcandy. Sennheiser and AKG have some headphones near that price point that you should look at instead.
