Default Which Computer is Better?

Okay so over the last few months I've been trying to get a new computer. Some of you may have seen my last post. So, I'm wondering if this custom computer I have built online (and might order) is better then this computer Dell is offering.

Here is my build:

Motherboard: Newegg.com - ASUS M2A-VM AM2 AMD 690G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
Processor: Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors
RAM: Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
Power Supply: Newegg.com - Sunbeam PSU-BKS-480-US 480W ATX12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V - Power Supplies
Hard Drive: Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

Here is a link to the Dell:
Inspiron 530 desktop computer deal - $499 after instant savings. Monitor not included.

Keep in mind I have the operating system worked out. And I will most likely put XP on the new computer. What is better? Considering I don't care about the price difference.

Grab the Dell and a case. It has an Intel Core 2 Quad and at $499 is pretty good deal. You can probably even take the parts put into a new case and upgrade as necessary.

Motherboard, Case, Power Supply, RAM, GPU, Processor, Hard Drive...

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 is $200 alone. Motherboard that supports it is another $100. Add in the all rest and that $499 Dell seems to be a good deal...depending on what they used for a motherboard and other parts.

Even as a computer builder...that build seems like a good starting point for an upgrade build. New case, GPU, etc and you have one boss computer. Even use leftover parts and the ol' Dell Case for a backup computer.

Is it just me, or do I not see a case or GPU?

Hmm... maybe I would say the Dell, but with a few changes the custom built one would look nice.

Now I'm faced with a dilemma...
So the Dell deal ends tomorrow and 6 in the morning.
And my Dad doesn't 'want to talk about my computer right now'.
So I think I'm stuck with a custom computer.
Yeah... Stupid parents... They promised they would buy my computer as soon as they got back from their trip... a month ago... >.<

EDIT:
Scratch that!

Just ordered my computer.
Quad core 2.4 baby!
I can't wait to get away from this:
1.8 pent 4
768mb ram
64mb integrated graphics
etc.

You did not have it that bad. Before I got my laptop, all I had was this:

400 MHz Intel Pentium 2 (upgraded from 333 MHz)
384 MB RAM
8 MB 3D Rage Pro AGP

It runs Windows XP surprisingly well, however.
