mp3tag

Go to menu, Convert>Actions

Add a new action, title it something like "Add Album Art".

Open it to add actions.

Select Import Cover from file.

Type in "cover.jpg" without quotes. Checkmark, delete existing cover art.

Click OK on the two windows bringing you back to the Actions list. Checkmark new action, click OK. Now whenever you highlight a list of songs and select the action it will add cover art if you put a cover in the folder with the files. Ensure it is a cover.jpg.

Why cover.jpg?

So that way it doesn't get overwritten by Zune.

Also, ensure that you turn off Automatically add album info option in the Zune Setting>Collection.

Great places to find cover images for use in putting in folders for tagging are:
http://www.cover-paradies.to/?Lng=EN
http://www.slothradio.com/covers/
http://www.mega-search.net/

You can also highlight an album in the mp3tag list and drag&drop an image file onto the cover square. Right click and delete any existing and than drag&drop. Don't forget to save the tags to the files with either Ctrl+S or selecting the option from the menu File>Save Tag.

You can turn off the automatic metadata updating in the Zune software and do it all manually. I got my library (1300 songs) fixed in a few hours... lolz

My library is only 8500+ songs now and growing daily as I restore more the archive to the new format. For a while I was waffling between several lossy formats before I just committed to one and have settled on that one. If I did convert all the music I have into the library I wouldn't be surprised if it went over 16000+ songs. Total file size might also grow exponentially as I add classical and opera works in.

Why don't you just update the meta through amazon in mp3tag. 1 click process. I did that for all of my 10K music collection under 1 day. I takes approximately 5 seconds an album and it gets me the correct title, album, artist... etc and album art.

You can get your meta data from somewhere else too ... eg. link mp3tag to yahoo music or something.
