Default [SOLVED] Crop videos

does anyone know of any program that will allow you to remove the widescreen black bars that run across the top and bottom of a video and resize it to fit the screen? i would prefer a free program if possible but I'm willing to pay if I have to.

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.[/

o okay, when you selected a video, go to advance, and then there should be a crop setting. set the % on how many you want to take off from top and bottom, sometime it don't work though.. the most effective one is to convert to wmv first then reconvert it to mp4... wmv always allows you to crop it. i'll get some pic if someone wants me to.

Many converter programs have the option to set the ratio. Typically, the setting you want is called "full" or something of the sort.

Really? Because that's how I've gotten it to work. I have a few episodes of House full-screen by doing that.

This worked wonderfully. I appreciate it! It takes a little messing around with but it worked. I was able to convert The Descent and watch it this weekend on my Zune.

Basically you can do it in almost every software. Eg. Super, Windows Media Encoder... etc. There's a crop setting in the advanced or video size section. You'll need to do a little bit of math here though. Eg. to remove the 2 black bars of the videos, change the resolution from 320x240 to 320x180...-> 4 to 16:9.. etc.

Avidemux worked... I could not get it to work with any other program. Avidemux allowed me to select he parts of the screen that I wanted to crop and to resize the rest.
