After you make the recovery discs(Which in my experience are horrible and useless), You can delete the recovery partition. And I believe Vista is still under 10GB even with SP1 and updates... But yes, its not a lot of space. But perhaps its enough for you.

Compaq isn't that bad, its all about people's opinions. if its cheap, i'll go with compaq, but if its too expensive then yea.. it would be bad..

Dell 1525 for $550.. not bad for the price.. cheaper than dell website.

Compaq - Presario TK-53 Laptop $399.99, just need to upgrade the hard drive and your good to go on that one..

I still recommend you stopping by BestBuy before buying it from Dell, I've been shopping around lately, founding lots of great deals on clearance at BestBuy, such as lots of laptop going down around price range of $300-$700.. and they're pretty good also, along with hard drives, etc. you should go stop by tomorrow or some day

Rather then start my own topic, I'll continue here.

I saw this in the paper today. Looks really good. Can I get some opinions?

Thanks.
I don't think it's listed on the page, but the add specifies it's a 12 cell battery, which if I'm correct means it has double the battery life of a normal laptop.

The high side of what?
I don't think $850 is that bad. What is this program of which you speak?

But the quality of the Products are dramatically different.

HP = Quality. Highly recommend.

I would say it depends.

A few weeks ago I got an HP from hp.com, it was defective, when it was not plugged in, the monitor made a high pitched noise., returned it.

Past Christmas, got a Compaq, dead pixel, returned it.

Yesterday, got a Compaq from BB, nothing wrong so far.

You are a spoiled young man.
I've never had one of these "laptops".
