suggestion:
1. USE PEERGUARDIAN!
2. if you use uTorrent use the advance menu and remove trackers you dont recognize.and check the spelling
3. read your isp contract to see if they would give any information out to other parties

Ehh does visiting the site count? I was looking up some stuff about some kind of anime battle for warcraft 3. It led me to this site. I didn't download anything, just clicked on the link through google and backed out.

How safe is peer guardian?

I REALLY REALLY want to get the Photoshop Top Secret DVD's but I'm not going to spend my entire life downloading separate rapid share files and stitching them together.

if you don't download everything on the internet through torrents, you're safe.

Anybody having trouble with throttling (which shouldn't be an issue now), head over to HackNation to view the guide on how to unthrottle your traffic: http://www.hacknation.org/index.php?...id=20&Itemid=1

well... I've downloaded from some of those sites a LOT! I have no problem and besides... as far as I know, torrents aren't Illegal. They're made so you can listen to music or try anything before you buy it and that's legal. I've searched over the net about torrents. Let's say they track me and find me. What do they have against me? I downloaded something from the internet? Well... for them to do something against me, they have to prove I'm using the file I downloaded Illegally. I don't sell, or anything. What I download, I do for myself and all I have to say is, I downloaded the CD to see if I like it so I can buy it. That's legal and they can't prosecute me! Many torrent comes with a read me file that talks about that and say the reason there's that torrent. As long you're not selling programs, music or movies...

Question, I use uTorrent to download, and there's a remove trackers option, by doing this does it lessen the chances of getting caught? And I thought TPB was based in open water and couldn't be prosecuted

The Pirate Bay's bid to buy that island in the water didn't go through but they are in a country that is not to enthusiastic about pressing for copyright infringement that Pirate Bay is doing because TPB is not making money off those items.

Has anyone ever found an example of someone being tracked down and got caught? Thousands of users download torrents every day, it seems unlikely that any action would take place for most cases. The crime just seems too petty per the average user.

Yeah Mininova like two days ago had a BUNCH of fake torrents. And you know they're fake if they have like 10000+ seeds & leechers -.-
For those websites, just download from people you know that upload good stuff. And make sure to read the comments of what people say.

All the time. I PERSONALLY know 3 people that have gotten caught. (out of oh... 10 people I know that torrent) Fortunately, all that happens is you get a slip from you ISP saying 'Delete it, and never do it again.'. Then their parents ground them for a year and it's all good.

I personally have a HUGE phobia of downloading.
