I was wondering if I should get a Wacom bamboo pen and touch or no. They are 86 dollars on amazon. I just don't know if I will use it. Does anyone have one and can tell me how it works and if it is a good idea to purchase one?

According to a GeekBrief.tv episode, they didn't perform very well. I would say hold onto your money, but you may want to look at some reviews for yourself on some tech gadget sites.

Just a question, on geekbrief was it the one that had a bunch of buttons and like a circle at the top or was it smaller and have a white led on the side?

Well, I have a bamboo fun pad from Wacom. (which is the one with the circle thing on the top, and the two buttons on either side of the circle thing.) I would say that if you are just a person that photoshops occasionally or just wants to try using a different method of interaction for your computer than its fine. The only thing is that it takes some getting used to, and as with all tablets, if you are used to resting your hand on the "pad" and sliding your pen around it will begin to stick to it, which makes it a bit difficult to use.

If you are a person that uses photoshop a lot, then I would not really recommend this. The levels of sensitivity are only really useful for a small range of pressures (512, for a moderate user this is plenty), and the lack of rotation within photoshop via pen tilting may be a problem. One of the other things that is a slight problem is the mouse that comes with it. Which is only really good for web browsing, and spreadsheets. (but of course you can use a regular mouse while using the bamboo pad.)

It really depends on what you are using it for. If you photoshop occasionally I would recommend it, if you are some sort of professional then I would tap you across the head and tell you to get a better one.

I don't use photoshop at all. Im looking right now for a handwriting recognition software so once I get that I may make a decision on buying it or not. Thanks for the insight.
