As seen in the picture, it says I need superuser privelege, which doesn't make sense because I am the administrator

there IS NO administrator in linux(at least not completely) you have to do sudo before the command and enter your root password

I found the problem, it was actually Firefox. Something called Flash Block installed itself without my knowledge.
Thanks though.

I had tried sudo dpkg --configure -a multiple times, resulting in "dpkg: requested operation required superuser privelege"

???? sudo DOES give superuser privilege(stands for superuser do) so thats wierd. maybe su dpkg --configure -a would have worked. when you entered it did you see [sudo] password for administrator: in the terminal?
