Default ZUNE on Ubuntu Hardy?

Can anyone shed some light on the issue of the Zune's incompatibility with Ubuntu?

I read in a few Ubuntu forums that people have been using Windows emulators within their Linux distro in order to sync their Zunes.

Any other suggestions?

WINE is what they use. Obtain WINE through the Synaptic Package Manager.

How well it works...not sure.

VMWare and Windows might be a workaround. Too bad Crossover probably doesn't work.

Digging through the Ubuntu forums is probably the best bet.

I'm always late to the party..OK.

It works fine on Ubuntu Hardy (I should know, I used it yesterday!) with VirtualBox and a copy of Windows. Soooo if you've got Ubuntu, and you want to use your Zune you're going to need those two bits of software installed first.
It doesn't work for Wine, unfortunately. Wish it did, but hey as long as i can use my Zune I'm happy

It does not work with WINE, main reason being that WINE does not emulate the DRM component of the .Net Framework 2.0 at all, and without that component the software will not function at all. If it does happen to work you will have no marketplace or podcasts.

So for the rest of you Ubuntu folk: Get VirtualBox PUEL, not the open source (it doesn't support USB), get Windows and install it that way.

Ive looked for days for a non VMWare type solution. Ive tried everything including MTP Device support, WINE, other media players. None of which worked so this leaves you with three options 1. Use Windows, 2.Buy an iPod which has support in Linux 3. Emulate Windows via VMWare (NOT WINE).
