Default I can has help?

I'm looking to making a list to build my own pc.
I've got a few of the needed components but, I need help figuring out if they will work together.
Here we go.
Xoxide Alien-X Case-CASE
Newegg.com - AMD Phenom 9950 BLACK EDITION 2.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 140W Quad-Core Processor - Processors- CPU
Newegg.com - Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory RAM x2
I fail after this.
I need a nice gaming rig. I'd like to keep it under $1500. If possible.
Thanks.

As I said in the shoutbox just go with Intel for now, the cores run more efficiently and are overclockable (more than .2 GHz), and it is cheaper without overclocking. Overclocking will require a heatsink and will make it about equal in price but well spent as it will be 1Ghz faster for the same price, since its C2D make that 1.3GHz Phenoms currently are a little slower than they say or C2Ds are just a lot faster than they say.

Here is a PC I just built for you I know I left off the GFX card, and I did so because that is more of a personal thing. The rest of the PC is there and I chose different parts than the ones you chose such as the case especially because that case was a POS and will be very difficult for you to work with, and the power source is very important to choose name brand for various reasons.

Case
Power Source
Memory
Hard Drive
DVD Drive
Motherboard
CPU
Heatsink (Only if Overclocking)

Total Price $678 incl. Heatsink *You might want to check up on my math as I am loaded up on drugs for my knee and strep throat on top of it being 6am and I have not gone to sleep*

You could knock the price down even more if you have a hard drive and a DVD drive in the pc your using now (assuming its a desktop) and that will even include an OS.

QFT, intel have really picked their socks up in terms of their dual core and quad core processors, and you have the advantage of not going with the sinking ship that is AMD. The phenom processor range didn't get received very well over here either.

amd probably enough for gaming i'll guess.. but for video card.. i would go with HD4850 or HD4870.. lol HD4850 is about $150-$200 and HD4870 is about $258-$300. 2gb ram might be enough i'll say..

BfG 800W PSU $129. BfGs overvoltage protection ensures that it will probably never fail, and its been testsurged with 49,000 and never blew.

Highly recommended.
Lifetime Warentee parts/labor if you register it with BfG in 30 days.

This one is loud, and is overkill on the power. Try this one which is quiet and has a little less power and is about $30 cheaper, but still BFG.

550w are you kidding? The MINIMUM for the HD4850, the SMALLEST of the recommended cards he wants is 450, the CPU is 150w, the RAM will need 100 so the lowest possible he needs without bottlenecking is 700.. what if he wants SLi which is affordable too? That 550 would pop within 2 weeks. Thats not even including what JUST the mobo will need to be optimum.

The 800W one says $99.99 after rebate. The 500W is $99.99 as well... If noise is not an issue, then obviously the 800W one is the best one with which to go.

Noise is noise and its something you have to deal with if you want a high-end gaming rig. He really never stated it had to be quiet, just the best gaming rig for $1500 with a phenom.

Phemon 9950 is not a bad CPU. The Phenom, unlike the Intel Quad, has four transports lanes meaning it accesses all four cores at once. Benchmarks are not everything...how it handles in games and everything else does.

Plus, Intel is about to shift sockets to make way for the X58 and Nehalem core that does have four transport lanes. AMD will not be shifting sockets with their 45nm core releases in Q4.

So, going either way, Intel or AMD will work, unless you only believe in benchmarks not real world use.

I'm going to go with the Phenom 9950. But I'll need a motherboard for it.
I'm going to get 8gb of Ram for it as well.

It is quite cheap to go 8gb RAM and it will just make the system run all the faster plus as more games get x64 releases they will be able to make use of that RAM OR even if the OS eats RAM you still have tons of free RAM for whatever.

If I had the ducats for it I would slap in two 4gb kits of Mushkin DDR2 800.

As for Motherboard, there is Asus and MSI that have Triple Crossfire motherboards or you can just go Crossfire motherboard. The AMD 790FX northbridge works quite well.

Asus AMD790FX: Newegg.com - ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

Keep in mind, crossfire is x16/x16, triple is x16/x8/x8 and quad is x8/x8/x8/x8.

Note...that motherboard can go quad but you might never want to go that far even if you grab HD4870x2 GPUs.

With 8 GB of RAM, there will never be any need to close any programs, except to reboot.
