Aim with sights, BAM! UBER BRIGHT!
![]() Only on CoD4. This is just many of the random things that happens in CoD4. Usually everything is alright, but sometimes, itll freeze a second, then suddenly really odd graphical errors will appear. My FPS is fine (like said and shown in the screenshot) but decals, textures, and lighting in some places are flashing some neon color (blue buckets, black floors and ceilings, red guns, yellow grass... varies by map). The occurrence in my screenshot happened only today. Just really odd lighting/decal errors, while keeping steady FPS. I was told it was a driver error, but I'd like more input. What do you guys think? My drivers are up-to-date and even after a driver update this will happen. System Specs: Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz Memory: 2558MB RAM Hard Drive: 224 GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS Monitor: Dell E772 (CRT Monitor at 1024x768) Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 If it helps, I ran some video card softwares and it told me I run around 60-65 C idle and 81 C ingame. I've got the stock fan and haven't overclocked.

Drivers up to date? What driver version? Is it from nVidia or from Dell (a packaged driver)?
32 bit or 64 bit? Maybe it is time to try an NGOHQ driver or a newer 175 series driver.

The 175+ drivers fixed that for me.

I am running on NVIDIA's latest drivers, which are newer than EVGA (my video card manufacturer) drivers on the EVGA website, version 175.19.
I am running on Vista 32-bit. What does Dell have to do with anything? lol

Actually the 177.41 drivers for the 200 series will work with your 8600GTS perfectly according to the forums. You also probably need to tweak around with your AA/AS settings ingame or through nvidia cpanel and probably change the games resolution to 1280x1024 or higher.

177 suggestion like Justan stated or grab a newer build of the 175 series. I think they are up to 175.5x or 175.6x now. If nVidia does not have it check nvforums for new drivers: nV News Forums - Powered by vBulletin I would go with beta drivers of the 175 series and skip the 175 WHQL or 177 series... Like this: GeForce 177.66 beta - nV News Forums
