I am using a Compaq Presario V500 and I just installed Ubuntu (I also have it on my desktop computer),
but I am having issues with my wireless connection. It is built in to the notebook, and I don't think Ubuntu can detect it. Is there anyway to get it working?

Yes, it does help, but not a lot.
The only thing useful in that code is 06:02.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) After you blacklist the broadcom BCM4318 and install the proper drivers and you'll be ok. Below is a guide for doing that. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=285809 Reps are always welcome. BTW.. the wireless network card isn't built into your computer. It's a miniPCi card attached to the MOBO.

Try the Fedora 9 live cd and see if it does.
Keep in mind my wireless card in my notebook is an Intel 4965 AGN but since releasing video drivers for the new X system Fedora 9 has become a very solid distro.

You'll be in the same boat as Ubuntu. For a guide on how to install the driver on Fedora Core 9, click the link below.

I have it downloaded, but the last time I burned an ISO as an image, the files were there but were all blank, no info in them at all.

Did you use the Burn Image to Disc function or did you do it through a project? Was the disc blank afterwards? Is it possible it could have been a bad burn or bad disc?

Burn Image to Disc Was the disc blank afterwards? No, but the files were. Is it possible it could have been a bad burn or bad disc? I think it might of been a bad ISO file

Oh yes, that. I did that as well, and still got blank files.
