Default Windows Mobile 6 Standard or Pro

I'm thinking of getting a WM6 phone in a few months (maybe the SE Xperia X1).

What I would like to know whats the difference between standard 6 and pro 6.

Also do you have to have pro to have your MSN icon in the idle screen (look below)??

Compare that to...

So do you have to have pro to have Windows Live id shown?

Thanks

Nothing really, I have MSN on my WM5 Standard. Be sure to sign up for the skyfire browser beta.

If the cost is over $400, I would go with an iphone, web browsing is much better.

I'm going to have to say that I think the iPhone probably has the best web browser for a phone. I don't think anything compares to safari on the iPhone, it really is as fast as a web browser on the computer. But to your question, I would say if theres no big difference just go with the version the phone comes with. Don't spend extra for pro.

Hopefully, they have added JAVA and Flash support to the iPhone Safari to make it worth it, otherwise it ain't worth it.

This sums up the difference between the versions.

Thanks for the info guys I think i'm going to stick to windows device. I'm not going to use to a lot for web browsing just occassionaly. What I like about the WM6 devices is the "threaded SMS" capability.

Ooh, didn't know you meant JavaScript. Also, I would recommend skyfire if you can get into the beta(I did).

I would definitely go with the Pro, although it depends what kind of phone you want. If you want one-handed use, go with smartphone (winmo standard). If you are fine with a stylus, go for Pro. If you do go with a smartphone however, make sure it is a recent model which you would be able to load up the WM 6.1, which does have the threaded SMS update (or you could always load up a cooked rom on XDA developers). As for the Windows Live, it really depends on if you get a carrier subsidized phone or a model straight from the manufacturer. Normally carriers remove extra programs such as Live in order to replace them with their own options (extra $$). But that also can be fixed with a ROM flash.

For the record, Java and JavaScript are two very different things. Java is a programming language that can be used to run applications launched from a website or just full PC applications. JavaScript is just website scripting that does little things, almost every browser supports it (even the PSP browser does).

The differences between windows mobile 6 and windows mobile 6 pro are:
-windows mobile 6 standard office doens't support editing
-windows mobile 6 standard does not support touch screen
-windows mobile 6 standard is cheaper

Damn.. it looks like i have to go with an iphone because it's the cheapest PDA phone ($125 in china). It's also a quadband phone too so i can use it in Canada.

Standard supports editing, but not creating. Although this can be fixed with a software download from Modaco.
