Vista Theming?

is there a good way to change vista themes, icons, cursors, etc?

Look into a program called Windowblinds. I'm not 100% sure that they have it for Vista but I'm pretty sure. I use it on my XP system to make it look as though it is running Vista. I like the way vista looks, but I hate everything else about it.

Patch the UXtheme.dll (read instructions of the Vista SP0 one and use the SP1).

After that head to DeviantArt

Customization>Skins and Themes>Vista>Visual Style> and enjoy using a visual style to your liking.

He said it best. A lot of times the people from deviantart will include what you need to patch the UXtheme too.

ok wait. i tried to replace the patch, but it like wouldnt let me. i think i need full access of the .dll file. how do i do that?

I know of three ways 2 of which you can do on a windows only system.

Windows:
- Download Replacer and manually replace the files with that.
- Take Ownership of the files manually. You can find guides on the internet for this.

Linux dual boot method:
I find this one the easiest and ALWAYS works. What you do it boot into linux and locate the files on your Windows drive and replace them then reboot into Windows and its all patched.

You have to take control of the files to do so.
