Default Zune Wireless Remote Not Working?

Hello, I recently purchased a zune home a/v kit and 10 ft. usb extension cable for connecting the kit to my computer. This kit also came with a wireless remote. My problem is that when I first attempted to use the remote, it would work in Bursts; i would be able to use it from a distance for a few seconds, and then it would not respond. The battery has already been replaced, and the usb cord is intact. Do I need to supply more power to the Zune, or am I missing something? Any help is welcome.

The Zune needs to be docked with a Zune dock for the remote to work.

Stupid me, I didn't mention that in the first place. My 80gig zune was docked the entire time I was doing this.

Hmm, do you have a digital camera? If so, aim the camera at the front of the Zune Remote and press some buttons, see if there are any lights coming from the remote(on the cameras LCD). Cellphone cameras will also work.

The Zune has to be docked and powered by the USB for it to work...it is goofy like that.

What do you mean, Gow616? The 10ft. Extension connects the existing Zune sync cable with my computer. As for the camera, I saw no lights from the remote.

Then it sounds like your remote is dead, if I remember correctly, the Zune remote is infrared, which appears on cameras.

OK, I just figured something out. The battery that I bought to replace the original one was also dead, so I popped in a spare and got the remote working. However, the Zune dock does not respond to the remote when it is plugged into my computer, but when I plug it into into the A/C outlet adapter the kit came with, everything works.

Thanks and sorry about that, I didn't understand what you were saying. (Hopefully) Last question: is there way that I could get a USB "Splitter" so that the Zune dock could plug in to the wall charger and the PC at the same time? Or would something bad happen as a result? It's just that I have a big entertainment center, and switching where the Zune Dock is plugged in all the time would not be very easy.

Nope, sorry. The Zune dock won't work when plugged into your computer? I would ask Zune Support, 877-GET-ZUNE.

The only problem I'm having is when the zune dock is plugged into my computer, the wireless remote works in bursts. All Zune and PC interactions work perfectly with no troubles.
