Default Nano died and need a replacement.

I have a specific problem. My Nano has died and I need a replacement, I have only a couple of needs for my next player.

1) I need to be able to burn a few of my existing CDs to it.
2) I use the device primarily for listening to podcasts and I want the device to be able to download updated podcasts via any available wifi connection without the need to connect to a computer.

Is there a device that meets this need? I looked at the touch but that device doesn't allow you to download via wifi and I am not spending $200-300 for a device that doesn't do what I need it to do.

Thanks for the help!

I am not married to that price only that I looked at the touch and it didn't seem to accomplish what I want it to.

Can the Zune connect to any wifi network and download podcasts? I travel a lot use wifi in hotels, starbucks, etc.

Thanks

If you have a laptop, you can download the podcast to the laptop and via wireless sync download it to your Zune through the wifi

Thanks but I am looking for the ability for the device to download directly. With so many devices having wifi these days I thought it was a fairly simple request.

It seems that my expectations may be too high....

no device can mainly just download wirelessly... maybe a pda or iphone can do it.. but not many mp3 players have wifi that can download.

Well, as far as mp3 players go, most require there own software, so you really have to have SOMETHING installed for your player to be able to sync.

Well if you want to be able to download music directly from and to your mp3-player through wireless...then you can get a ipod touch. If you jailbreak(hack) it..which is easy by the way just download a program and click on a button while your ipod touch is synced. Then use this application. Not sure about podcasts though..unless itunes got podcasts then use wifi to connect to itunes from your ipod touch and download them from itunes...

But yeah...just my suggestion. Not many mp3-players allow you to download podcasts/songs/etc...through wireless.

but it would fit this guys needs.

Since itunes does have podcasts, and with an ipod touch he can just connect to a wireless network, open up itunes and download them/update them(not sure how podcasts and itunes work)...but yeah.

Are you sure!?...I've seen my friend download songs to his ipod touch through wireless/itunes on his touch. I would think it'd be the same for podcasts..

The touch does seem to let you download music (which you pay for) but it doesn't let you update podcasts you are subscribed to.

At least as far I can tell. I haven't paid much attention for the last couple of years since my nano worked fine...

As for jailbreak I don't know enough about it to go spend that much for a device just to "break" it in hopes that it will do what I need it to do. It can't be that hard to build the device I need.... Oh well. Thanks all for the input I do appreciate it!

Well, you can't get a device for $200-$300 that downloads podcasts directly. Seriously..
Just be a man and not a fan boy and get a Zune 80g.

Actually a device that will do what I want at all is a start and the Zune doesn't do what I want from what I read here...

THEN GITFO..
But really, the only device that downloads podcasts directly are iFail touches or iFailph0nes.
For considerably more than your price zone.

Well, zune is a portable media device, and the wifi is only used for wireless syncing to a computer you have the software installed on. If that isn't enough, look elsewhere. And as far as the itouch downloading music through wifi, your gonna have to buy your music through itunes, and $1 a song is crap.
