Xbox Help

I was playing my xbox 360 a couple minutes ago, i was playing cod 4 with the zune connected playing music from it
Next thing this red ring appears on half of the xbox ring, and then it turns off, i unplugged the power source and felt the xbox, and seems it overheated
Any bad problems or should i just wait till it cools down?

unplug everything including the harddrive and let it cool down... then try again and see what happens.
you'll probably be calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX in the next couple days though

You seem to have the, "Red Ring of Death."

You should invest in a cooling device because if it damages any of the internal microprocessors it will void your warranty.

cooling devices are a sham, especially the nyko intercooler than plugs inline with the power source. if you MUST get one, make sure its the base station with its own power supply.
plus RRoD is covered for 3 years from purchase date, and will NOT void your warranty.

Yea, i might get that cooler thing, just to be safe
but i heard it lower's your xbox's life or something like that

you get a 1 year full warranty on any problems that arise, and a 3 year extended warranty for RRoD.
to minimize chances of problems make sure your 360 has plenty of breathing room... it doesnt matter if you stand it up or lay it flat as long as you make sure all the air vents are unimpeded.

edit: if you get RRoD your xbox wont boot to the dashboard and you wont be able to play games... if you cool your xbox down and it works again, go ahead and play it. nothing will void your warranty. mine RRoD'd and i let it cool down, played it for another 2 days before it RRoD'd for good. thats when i sent it in and got it back in 2 and a half weeks with no problems at all.

and like i said before if you get a cooler, make sure its the base one... like this one

Well i just turned it on, and its running ok, no rrod for now, but i'll leave it off for some more, kinda scared of messing it up
My xbox is actually in its own little place, with plenty of room, i think its in a good spot

How would they know, I think they just check it(for RROD) and give you a new one.

when you turn it on put your hand behind it and feel the temperature of the air... if its REALLY hot let it cool down a bit longer but if it feels normal, play away.
you're guaranteed to get a more permanent RRoD sometime soon, they dont often RRoD and then repair themselves, so dont be held back from playing.

I got red ringed and had to send it in.

The good thing was it came back very quick and I got 1 free month of Live gold membership.

Bad news is I got sent back a dif one and the power button rarely works.

Hope all works out for you though.

Well, no hot air coming out, but it kinda sounds bad when i turn it on, but no real problems seem to have happened, so yea..

I hate the Red Ring of Death, though i've never had it (The cooling device for the Elite is pretty good, if you have the elite though....)

Get a cooling device that suites all aspects of your model , and see if that helps

If it's only HALF the circle, then you don't have the RRoD. RRoD is three quarters of the circle. There actually is a big difference. It's simply an isolated incident. Just make sure your 360 doesn't too hot and be careful with it. Then again, I'd give this advice to any 360 owner, even ones without any problems.
