Really you should just play around.
Try tweaking the framerate and audio sampling.

Here's a list of free ones: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/gen...softwares.html

Try converting at a lower bitrate.

Default Dropped frames?

Are you talking about the video losing sync *while* it is being converted, or is the converted video also out of sync afterwards?

If it is while converting, most codecs drop video frames in an attempt to resync when the processor (CPU or Graphics) or hard drive access falls behind. This is normal for on the fly conversions.

Many codecs/converters actually set the framerate to a lower value to prevent "hiccups" in the stream during a conversion that could lead to a corrupted video (similar in idea to a buffer underrun when burning a CD or DVD).

There are settings in some programs that will prevent dropped frame and force every frame to be displayed, but this often results in jitters in the video, and may not apply if the problem is only during the conversion phase.

Hope this helps.

- JC

Try MediaCoder. It is a very good free encoder that I've never had a problem with. Also, Dell PC's are knon to create the lag. I have three friends that own Dell PCs and they all have problems converting videos. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your hardware that are not from the Dell website, then try again.

This has nothing to do with your computer. It has to do with the FPS of the video. You'll need to find out the FPS of the original video and use that number as the output video's FPS. EG. a NTSC DVD video uses 29.97FPS. Your output video should also have 29.97FPS or else the audio will sometimes be off sync.

Please tell us which program you're using and we might be able to help you.

I use windows media encoder and it allows me to change the FPS. I also use SUPER and it also allow you to change the FPS setting.
