Well, my serial for windows xp wont work even though I've used it before, and now it says that what I am running is not a genuine version of windows. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but I can't get updates. All of my sounds are beeps coming from the computer, and I can't play WoW because of some update I need. I called the support thing and said it couldn't help me. Maybe someone doesn't have a keygen I can not use.

that happened to me once also, and it took me to the windows site and asked me all these questions on what the installation cd looked liked...questions asking if it had holograms and stuff.... i later than put anything on those questions and i got a genuine copy.

Just follow the links there and check for genuine. There should be links right? Same thing happened to me, they had to make sure my Windows was genuine so they made me download a crap load of stuff.

Serial number? I am assuming you mean the CD install key. Did you get a copy from a friend or something? Just kidding, but have you made hardware changes? Enough of anything like adding or removing RAM, a HDD, optical drives, ect. Can cause the system to see it as invalid. It's supposed to stop you from activating Windows, but if it's not caught there, it just sees windows as being an illegal copy and blocks downloads.

There was a website online you could go to where you install a browser plugin then it automatically installs XP updates for you.
Google for XP Updates or something... I can't find the page anymore and my main PC is dead for now.
