Default [SOLVED] vista help

I just recently got a new computer that came pre-installed with vista, it works fine but everytime i open a program(any program almost) it asks me to confirm that i would like window to run the program.

Is there a way to turn this off?

There sure is. Start > User Picture > Turn User Account Control on or off (Yes when prompted) > Uncheck the box > OK

Then restart the computer.

Awesome, thanks alot. that's the only thing that has been really bugging me about Vistaso far. My uncle sets up computers, and he hasn't even figured out how to get it to stop doing that yet!!

Just goes to show you that the people who don't like Vista tend to not know what they're doing or are speed whores.

Sadly, I've been told(shortly after doing it) they do it for good reason and have also been told(by my mom) not to disable it . Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get over it, put back on and deal with it.

Unless you plan on installing virii you can turn off UAC. It was designed to prevent the common user from installing possibly unsafe software. It is why its done on the Mac Operating System. Keep in mind the average user is just computer literate enough to know how to click on applications and browse the internet, etc.

It was for these people also known as the lowest common denominator that this software gets designed for and who it was meant to protect.

If you aren't the lowest common denominator computer user, and I don't believe anyone is until they prove so, UAC can be turned off.

As always, ensure you have proper Anti-Virus software with some Anti-Spyware solutions as well. These will protect you better than anything.

Don't be fooled by advertising all Operating Systems are vulnerable to viruses if they are connected to a network that connects to the internet.
