Oh, upgrade install... not the best way to go but alright lets see if this might help.
From my experience with Symantec (from version 7 to 10) it is the worse software I have ever had the displeasure of uninstalling. Its a royal pain in the arse because it won't let you uninstall it unless you do it in certain steps or even worse it refuses to cooperate at all. Best bet is to try Windows Installer Cleanup (link)Utility with the combination of uninstalling the update engine first and then the actual AV program from the Control Panel. Although before you go that route try this instead (Requires PDF Reader): http://www.ncsu.edu/antivirus/downlo...ista-sav10.pdf

Thanks, but now the real problem is that windows security alert keeps telling me that symantec is off, when all of its file have been deleted and I searched through the registry, deleting all keys that had symantec in its name.

Get Kaspersky... It's much better than Norton, and you'll stop getting the annoying message from windows defender.

Okay, I am done with the Symantec problem, even though it says that I have it installed when I go into the security center, but I have a new problem.
My new problem is that now, I do not have any printers available on my computer. When I look in my printers folder, it is empty, and when I try to add a printer I get the message of "Windows can't open Add Printer. The local printer spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine." Anyone have any advice? |
