OK this applies to ALL OS's but I am only gonna show one (Linux Mint) b/c its free and can be easily obtained for demonstration. First I am going to start with burning the image file (.iso) to a disk. If you already have a disk then skip ahead to the tutorial in the blue font.
1. Download Linx Mint *Its a torrent file but is 100% legal and has dedicated seeders for quick downloads.* 2. Download IsoBurn*Also free.* 3. Then open IsoBurn and locate LinuxMint-3.1.iso and burn it to a disk. YOU CANNOT EMULATE AN OS DISK!!! 4. Restart your computer and press F10 non-stop until the BIOS screen comes up (Each computer has something different so just look on your screen while boot up to see what your supposed to use.). At this time select the "Startup Options" menu using the arrow keys, and change the boot order of our optical drive to one (This is another part that depends on the computer, but no worries there will be instructions on the page somewhere sa to how to change the boot order. For mine its like A, and Z) 5. Now insert disk into your optical drive and restart your computer then follow the directions given on the disk. You might want to also add that some computers wont auto recognize to boot from the disk and they have to manualy boot it from the disk using the keys that it says on start up
