Question Restoring old computer HELP

Hey i found like 3 really old computers in my storage room and i wanted to make them mildly whoop-ass. im not talkin like 1TB hard drive, 2 gigs ram, Dual Core pentium, but at least good enough to please a teenager lolz. I know one is a packard bell running win 98, but the other two are custom from like 97. i no i will have to buy a lot of stuff, but it is still cheaper than starting from scratch. if you guys cant help, mind sending me a link to somewhere that does?

It would be cheaper buying a new computer.... alot cheaper. Motherboards from 1998 would not support a dual-core processor.

Well yes and no. With those specs XP wont even run smoothly, but so I I can help you out just tell me what this teenager will do with this computer. Cuz you could probably just load Linux on that thing and it will run beautify if he is only gonna surf the web and stuff like that.

In agreement with Lacrosse here. If it only is needed for Word Processing and Internet than they can work with Linux but 1TB hard drives may be overboard for it. Windows 2000 is also an option as its an NT based OS still has some support and should run just fine on them. Although you have to ensure the RAM is compatible as well. From the age it probably uses SDRAM or something older and finding it may prove to be hard in the size you are looking for. Newegg is an option if they still carry the parts you need and Crucial is a place that is also good to look for all kinds of RAM.
