Default [SOLVED] Synch problems, stuck at please wait screen

So I've been having some troubles synching files lately, sometimes it won't transfer, sometimes it freezes, but eventually I can synch them. However, I went to update the firmware today when I updated my software, but it failed, and I could hear the device connecting and disconnecting repeatedly, and in the bottom of my screen it said, hardware was not installed properly...etc. So I turned on my zune and got stuck at a black and gray screen saying please wait in english, french, and spanish with an icon of the zune at the top. I assume that my old firmware was deleted, and in the process of updating, an error was encountered and it could not load the new firmware. Now I can't connect the zune and it hasn't moved from that screen. I tried restarting and all but to no avail. Is there anything I can do or should I just try to get it fixed by them, or return it?

wow
that is really messed up
your zune hates you... did you ever own an ipod?
---------------------------------------------------
I mean, did you read the instructions that came with the Zune? the ones that were like three steps long or something?
--------------------------------------------------
also how can you even hear the Zune repeatedly connecting and disconnecting? is it like screaming in agony or something?
--------------------------------------------------------
did you like, accidentally press the middle button, left button, and back button at the same time and accidentally delete your firmware and music?
-----------------------------------------------------------
..... ...........but it's okay

ha, no, I know it wasn't my fault. I connected my friends zune to my computer, and the next time I connected mine it was like that. It also freezes if I go under genres and try to play anything, and under some other circumstances. I'm almost positive that it deleted the firmware when updating and now I can't get it to connect. So I assume the only thing left for me to do is send it in or return it?

Edit: I can hear it on my computer -the budaboop noise when hardware connects

lol sorry for the dis I wanted to see how you would react.
Well there are several things to do that might help:
You can erase your whole library and start over by deleting the files in:

%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune
-----------------------------------------------------------
monitored folders are in the registry (regedit) under:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Zune\Preferen ces

Using the keys TrackFoldersDirectoriesX, where X is a numeric value. The TrackFoldersDirectories has the count of the keys to use. I don't think you should need to go there, but maybe
----------------edit----------------------
oh yeah, and when I say "You can erase your whole library and start over by deleting the files in:", doing this will not erase the actual music files on your hard disk; just whatever files the Zune software needs to recognize whats on your hard drive or whatever... if none of this helps oh well idk what then

LOL. god4gotmyname, what type of fixes are you giving this person?

Try clearing everything including the firmware using the key combo here: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zun...binations.html

Uninstall your software, then re-install using SZIP: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/com...-v2-redux.html

I found it first! Over at the official Zune forums.

Glad it works, but I don't think it'll fix it if the Zune doesn't even connect

Well, thank you for your help, but I fixed it today, or rather it fixed itself. I just plugged it in and instead of being impatient, I let the please wait screen sit all day just in case it loaded, and it did. So now with the new firmware my freezing problems are gone. I'm a ******, but thanks for trying to help me.

i know this is old, but how long did you leave the please wait screen on? My zune 80 is doing exactly the same problem you had.

This problem may fix faster than you think. Follow these steps to delete the firmware an everything on your Zune. There is no way to recover them anyway.

Note to Disclamer: ONLY use when directed to

1. Hold Down and Back to power off.

2. On a 2nd generation device (Zune 4/8/80):
Hold Back, the Center pad button, and Play.

2. On a 1st generation device (Zune 30):
Hold Back, Left, Center, and Play.

Note: Afterwards, your device will need to be attached to a PC to initialize and download the latest firmware.
