Default Video naming problems

This may have been answered somewhere else, and /or it may not belong here. I apologize. I neither have the time nor the patience to search for either one.

I seem to be having problems getting proper names to show up in the Zune "Ready to Sync" list. I right-click the video I want to re-name, I go into Properties and then the Summary tab. I edit the title to what I want and then click Apply and then OK.

After that, I either refresh the window or close it and re-open it, but it doesn't seem to matter, because whenever I drag it into the Sync List it will still show the old video name. I can ever restart my computer and it still won't show up properly in the Zune area, but the name in Properties is what it should be.

Should I blame Microsoft XP for this or my Zune? Or both?

And does anyone know how to fix this?

On a lighter note: Hi to all!

Edit the name in Windows explorer and Close and reopen Zune.

I've done exactly what you've said, lacrosse_man16, and it works for most of the videos just fine, but there's always a few stubborn ones that just don't want to change:

like this one video I renamed "RvB PSA 2 - Armor Cleaning" but it still keeps showing up in Zune as "RvsB PSA 2 - Armor Cleaning". It's just one letter, but it keeps throwing off the alphabetic order on the Zune itself. And I'm a neat freak sometimes.

It sounds like the file might not be syncing. I have seen something similar when trying to change just the genre or a year for a track at times.

You might try this:
  • Plug in the Zune and sync.
  • On the navigation section for your device (the tab with the name of your Zune and not the library), delete the file from your Zune and sync.
  • Make a copy of the file and place it in a folder that is not monitored.
  • Delete the file from your library and sync. If prompted to remove from your hard drive, do so.
  • Ensure the file does not show up in the sync results list, in your library, or on the Zune.
  • Place a copy of the renamed file back in its original location. If it is not a monitored folder, drag it to the sync list.
  • Sync but do not uplug your Zune.

When the sync is complete, browse the device using the Zune software and make sure it appears as you want. If this doesn't work, I am at a bit of a loss. If it really bothers you, you might reformat and resync but that is a rather drastic step for just a file name.

Does anyone have a summaries tab? I dont. I get file, content, and media usage rights.
