Default Folding@home Team

I'm really into the folding@home distributed computing project. If you don't know what it is go to http://folding.stanford.edu to read about it. Basically people donate spare CPU cycles on their PC to fold proteins for science. It helps better understand diseases and things. To make the work competitive stanford made work units have point values, then you can organize people into teams and compete for rankings. I would like to set up a Zune Boards team. Obviously I need admin permission to do so. So I figure this is the best place to discuss it.

EDIT: This can be moved to the suggestions sub forum if you think it's better suited there.

It doesn't matter how long your PC is on, it's still useful. It won't explode lol. So admins, can we get a team started up?

Nurta, how do I prove interest? I'm very interested, I'm ready to create the team now and switch my client to start folding for the zB team. We would need a special forum where I can write a sticky showing people how to join, and people could ask questions.

By interest, he means from users on the forum. Prove to us that the forum will be used, by getting support(ers).

Would it be able to run while I am using the computer (as in typing a report or something)?

Yes, it runs in a very low priority, so when you are doing something on your computer, any applications that you are using get precedence over the Folding@Home process. You should never notice it slow down your computer.

Nurta, is this enough people to grant me the permission to start a team? I'm positive once we have one up and running we can easily get more people to join in.

6 people. Oh sure, it's not like we have nearly 50000 users or anything

It can be any number of people. It doesn't matter. Uh Nurta, in my opinion it's a little hard to get people interested in something that doesn't exist. Also not everyone regularly reads the Website Suggestions forums. If we actually had a team, then it could be advertised to get people to join (ex: on the news site). I don't see why it matters how many people are interested from the start.

You don't need Nurta's, or zB's permission to make your own team.
