Editing Time limit

The editing time limit has recently been an issue. By editing time limit, I mean the time after someone posts, at which they can no longer edit their post. It's currently set at 12 hours.


Anyone want it increased/decreased, if so, to what?

Of course, the staff would have to vote on the time limit you guys want.

what on earth is the point of there being an editing time limit... i want to be able to convert television shows and upload them regularly, and edit the post every week or more. seems lame that we cant "double post" or edit our own post after X-amount of hours, when a mod is probably just going to have to combine posts anyway. maybe you should create a special rank of "power users" so to speak, aka people who upload content for other people and need to do things like edit/delete posts.

The user-group is a possibility. I like their being a time limit, because without one, people can go back and edit their comments and/or statements.

you could allways make the good people like me and a few others have the power to edit...maybe a differnt usergroup with less power then yall but more then a member or some thing

Admins and mods should have no time limits... which they don't.

Lol, ya, I don't think any staff has a limit, mostly since we're supposed to be editing other posts.

So..anyone else have any ideas/thoughts/suggestions?

i dont know much on how SMF 1.1.1 works and all but i have a forum (VB) for over 4 years now.

I think the best thing is to have new usergroups

• admin
• supermod
• mod
• video editors
• Zune MVP

of course the admins and supermods have just or all the power.
mods have the power to move/edit any bodies post.
video editors have the power to EDIT THEIR OWN post.
Zune MVP's are normal members but look nicer (maybe a color or even bold username)

Well, I might make a group for people who upload things regularly, but there is already a MVP type thing, Premium Members.

It's got to be approved by the staff first.

premium membership costs money (which being a poor college student is hard to find in the first place), and it still doesn't let you edit your own posts infinitely.

Well, after testing the group, I've found out that I can't toggle just that permission, so I'll probably end up lifting the limit.
