Cross Country- Our sport is your sports punishment

So i really didnt look that far into wether there was already a cross country thread, so im sorry if this is a dupliacate.
Anyways im a pretty active xc runner. ive only been doing it for a year but i fell in love with it. Haha to be honest i really didnt think id actually do the sport but a split second decision changed my life. if it wasnt freezin balls outside id probably be out running to the beat of my zune instead of cooped up in my room. anyways enough about me. if you wanna post some favorite xc memories, records, or anything, feel free to do so here.

i'll go ahead and start.
one of my favorite memories of xc happened a while ago. our team was doing a 6 mile run. the agreement was you could walk downhills and the rest of the way was running. and if somebody was caught walking- the whole team does an extra 2 mile penalty. of course we had a group of guys who were slacking off and taking every slight slant to walk. our coach, Mrs. miller or Millie as we call her, was driving up and down the roads checkin on us and taking pics for a slideshow she makes at the end of the season. so when she sees them she explodes like no other. once everybody got back the news had already spread that somebody got caught. well, Millies super easy, so we get by with all of them individually apoligising to the team and them doing the penaltys. so the oddball of the team, trey, walks out there and says "I walked because im a pansy a$$." Haha it was so great... then we decided we were gunna make short shorts for him that said pansy across his backside.

I've never done an official xc race but I was in a bootcamp thing for bad kids (YCP) ran by the national guard and our cadre loved to run.

We walked over 8 miles every single day (except weekends) because of how the base was layed out (for instance the defac (dining facility) was 2 miles from the classrooms, 1 mile from our barracks).

Our baseball field was 9 miles from our barracks and every saturday afternoon we rode a van there, practiced, an ran all the way back. It was hell but I don't regret it. Now that I'm a chunky code monkey I could afford to start long-distance running again to lose a little weight to be honest!
