Well, this may sound like a stupid question, but I was talking with my friend.. and he's convinced Sit-ups are easier than crunches. We all thought there was no way this is true(being you practically do a crunch within a situp) but he's convinced a bunch of personal trainers and such say that, so does anyone know for sure?

I was situps, because they are. I can do a crunch, but can not do a sit up.

Lunges. Lunges kill them both. But of those two I saw situps.

I'd say sit-ups are harder.

Exactly, I can do like less than 1/2 the amount of situps as crunches.

Situps. No doubt in my mind bout that. Try doing 50 crunches in a row, and then try 50 (maybe not all at once so you're fresh). With crunches you can cheat and put pressure on ur neck. With situps, its' much harder to do that.

my mom is actually a personal trainer. a sit up is harder than a crunch but both are very tough to do correctly
you cant use your arms to pull your head up you cant just arch your back you must tighten your abs and use your abs to pull your torso up and dont just roll back down, use your abs to slowly lower your torso to the floor/mat a crunch is just a shorter version of a sit up, you must get your shoulders off of the floor/mat and thats about it a situp, you get your entire back off of the floor pretty much which involves a longer range of motion obviously but a large margin for error once you get past the crunch so if you do them correctly, a sit up is harder

Whoever voted for crunches has most certainly never done a sit-up. If I do the same amount of crunches as I would sit-ups, I feel like I've barely even used my abs and that I've cheated somehow
