Default Spring Track

I decided today to sign up for track. I'm not much of a runner (soccer and basketball is for me) but I thought, wth I don't care. So I was wondering anyone here on the track team? If so, any recommendations on what events I should do?

if your a soccer player you would probably do well in distance since you can run for longer periods of time and longer distances.that means you would run 400's?800's?basketball is more sprinting up and down court so if your tall and have a long stride then try doing a 200 or a 100?its kinda up to what you want to do i guess?
im a thrower and ran cross country and do 100's...
hope this helps

I did track for 3 years but if you're going to do distance prepare to get bored. The 1600 and the 3200 are the two longest and most boring events possible. I quit because the coach was a moron but doing track is a great way to stay in shape.

Good luck dude. The closest thing I ever did to track was running the mile in P.E... God that sucked.....

Yeah running is my least fav thing to do sport wise. I mean just running as a sport, not running on a football field or something.
My advice, do not wait. Run now. Run as hard as you can as long as you can, then you get better. I learned this training with EOD and they run like crazy.
The more you do it, the better you will be. Good luck man!

Lol yup well I wore them before...nice breeze. Had to wear them because I made it on to my highschool track team my freshman year of highschool..so in other words this year. I felt so embarrassed to run in them that I ran faster than usual. Because I wanted to finish the race fast and put my jogging pants back on. So I guess you can call the trackteam booty shorts a motivational item...

I was on the track team all through middle and high school and I loved it. My main events were the 100 and 200 and I did the 400 when I was feeling brave/bored at the meets. That sprint is grueling! I also did some long jumping and relays, which I liked a lot. I was sort of a utility person and filled in a lot for injuries, sicknesses, etc. I started to learn pole vaulting my senior year but it was just too much work for me then so I gave up on it. Track was one of the only things I really liked about high school and I miss it a lot. At least I set personal bests in my final events at my final meet.
