Does any one know the combo to delete a specific file off the zune? I'm positive I saw it online somewhere but I disregarded it but I need it now cause a file is bugging with zune aoftware
If that existed I would be very excited, but I'm very certain that you can't do that.

You could do that with any version of the firmware. firmware is just like an OS of a Computer, you wipe the hard drive and you can install whatever firmware you want. But because of the specific way Zune connects to a pc you cannot install anything but Zune firmware.

ok so u can install say version 2.5 software if u really wanted and the zune 3.0 software that i hook my zune to would let me upgrade to version 3.1 again? that's how i'm understanding it, is this correct?

If you downgraded to 2.5 Zune will always try to update you to the most recent. You can stop this but i don't remember off the top of my head. But you have to have the same firmware-software version. You cant have 2.5 firmware and 3.1 software. They have to be the same.

I have a brown Zune 30 with firmware 3.1. I need to erase everything including the firmware, and when I do the erase all combo, nothing happens no matter how long I hold it down, or what order I press the buttons. The reset combo works, the deep sleep combo works, but neither of the erasing combos work. What the heck?

After having fits with my faithful Zune 80 not being able to play some of my music and video collection I came across this thread and after following the instructions on unloading everything from my hard drive and allowing me to reload it, everything is working perfectly again. Thanks a whole lot!
