Default [TOOL] zMeta - Metadata editor

zMeta v2.5201 : Allows users to modify all Zune-used meta tags of Zunable media.
Cost: Nothing.

Updated on April 9, 2007

Download at:
Here (For the installer)
Here (For just the files)

Donate? Click Here
If you enjoyed the program or for some reason are feeling overly generous, feel free to donate. zMeta will, and always will, be free software, as will all my other releases through Zune Boards. However, school is pressing as is the project itself and I have put a great deal of my time into it.

On that same note, if you feel repulsed by the mere thought of donating money for a free program, that's cool too. I won't force you, I won't ask you, I won't say that I'll stop if no one donates. I enjoy all forms of feedback, praise or heavy criticism, so if you want to tell me or zMeta off, I'll try my best to fix whatever the problem is and accept it as graciously as a thank you.

Instructions:
Open files.
Change tags (either in table view or single view)
Switch video types (right click on entries in the table view, or select multiple entries and then choose what type you want).
Saving? Is done whenever you make a change, change anything at all and the data and tags are saved.

Once you've edited what you want, then re-sync the files to the Zune. The Zune software won't recognize them as being changed so unfortunately you'll have to delete the files from your Zune and then re-upload the files. This is mostly just temporary until AlbinoTux and myself figure out how to send content to the Zune itself.

Also note that if the content isn't on the Zune yet and you change the tags, then all you have to do is sync the files to the Zune and the tags will be there. The reason you have to re-sync content is only because the Zune software won't see that the files in your library are different to those on the Zune and thus won't update the tags.

Supported Formats
All Zunable formats. However, note that .mp4, .m4a, and .m4b don't really work with Metatags (in general, not just with zMeta) and won't hold tags. As far as I know the only way to fix this is to convert them to .wmv, .mp3, or another Zunable format.
(Note: Some newer .wmv formats are still having some trouble being recognized and in some cases having their tags saved. With later versions I hope to rectify this issue.)

Props: Saikou, AlbinoTux, Jocker, rock4christ, seesoe, and everyone at ZuneBoards (www.ZuneBoards.com).

Note:To uninstall the application if you use the installer, just go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall from there.

Once complete, zMeta will be able to edit all files. That's my intention anyway.

focusing on editing video metadata would be my only request.. Im sure all of us are good at doing mp3 metadata by now, and there are many many other 3rd party programs to help with that as well..

It's more or less going to be centered around the meta data that the Zune checks for. Be it video, audio, or pictures.

The audio might not necessarily be the biggest part of the program, it will simply coexist along with the other parts as a feature.

If you need mirrors to host your files just let me know... I have plenty of storage and bandwidth just sitting there. Thanks in advance for putting something like this together!

And what language is this written in? If you are doing this as open source, I would love to see a sample of your code. I dabble in almost every major language and Ive never before done any entertainment programs, especially dealing with metadata. I'm interested!
