Replaced digitizer problems

hey all,

bit of a lurker moslty but I've run into a problem so was hoping someone could help me..

i dropped my zunehd 64gb and cracked the screen. it still registered touches and worked but was pretty ugly so i decided to replace it..
i ordered a replacement of ebay for 20 bucks because the rapidrepair prices were a bit high..

ive succeed in replacing the digitizer with no problems all looks sweet..
i bought digitizer adhesive for an iphone and cut it to shape to reatach it to the plastic and bought some double sided foam tape for the inside dust protected between the digitizer and oled..

unfortunatly ive now put it all back together and discovered that it isnt regisitering my touches but if i pull up the quick menu it is registering ghost touches from all different places..

so sad =[

anyway i was wondering if maby factory reseting it would fix it? or maby its the adhesives that are the problem?..
anyway if anyones done this with their zune any help would be much appreciated..

Well I'm glad to see others are taking advantage of the low prices on parts for ebay, I couldn't help buying an extra to put away just in case the screen breaks again.

I don't think doing a factory reset will help as this is a hardware issue, the first step would be to post the link (if available) to the screen you bought simply to double check its validity (I'm not saying you bought the wrong part just starting with the basics). The second step is to make sure the connection to the main board is clean. If both these dont help it is possible the foam is giving you trouble (creating static which would disrupt the function of the screen). I hate to ask you to do this now that you've gotten it looking nice, but you'll need to detach the screen from the foam, plug it in and see if it works. Try this and let it know if it works, if it is the foam I can recommend some alternative methods of attaching it.

so i finaly had a chance to tear the poor thing apart again..
i cant send a link to the item as the sale was too long ago..
the seller only had a few neg feedback for late deliveries and the screen looks pretty good build quality wise.. the controler has a different code printed on the ic but that seems to be fairly common in second hand parts..

anyone now for the bad news.. so i slowly took it apart against my better judgement i did this with it on as i had no way of turning it off this time.. was guna let it run out but jsut decided to be careful..

anyway first i took the foam off and tested it same problems.. and then i took it off the front plastic removing the double sided tape and same problem..
strangely though when it was completely seperate from the device ie. i pulled it apart and attached it to the back and let it hang free i didnt get any ghost inputs.. however it still didnt register my touch inputs so i still think its cactus..

im going to email the seller tomorrow and see if theyll supply a replacement..
in the meantime though could you send us a link to who you purchased yours from?.. even if theyre not selling any maby they have a couple lieing around..
if yours is working it speaks louder than any star ratings..

Well that's certainly not good news, I believe this is the one I bought, despite the horrible description. I believe when microsoft ended production of the zunes many of the parts were auctioned off and are now being sold dirt cheap by companies such as this.
