Crashed while crossing a creek on my bike, zune took a very short bath. Was in good Dlo case, think it helped. Got home, wrapped it in towel, let it sit in sun for 20 mins. Then took it apart, and it was bone dry inside. Turned it on, got battery icon, with "!". Disconnected battery, let it sit for 5 days, with open case. Plugged battery back in, got dead battery icon. Put it back together, plugged in to usb, charged it for a while, works fine. When tried to sync, took long time to be recognized as plugged in, then would not sync. Tried daughter's good sync cable, still not working. Now when connecting it, will stay charged, display comes on and off every 20 or 30 seconds, pc will not recognize it. It works perfectly to views pics, watch vids, or play music. I have used compressed air (gently) to blow out port area to make sure nothing is in there.
Any ideas. I have had this baby since first day on the shelf, and it has worked without flaw since day one.

most likely you shorted something. You may have thought it was dry, but moisture was trapped somewhere you couldn't see it (like under a surface mount IC, etc.) you could -at least theoretically- do that to something that controls this but not that, and therefore get only partial operation because something is zapped.
