Exclamation Possible damaged battery?

So I washed my zune HD a while back and gave it up for dead (soap and hot water and such)

I got curious yesterday and plugged it in and lo and behold it started charging and turned on. I was pretty happy and started loading music on it.

Once I finished though once i unplugged it it shut off completely until i plugged it back in. I assume this is a battery issue but the battery icon still shows the device as fully charged and such so it's holding the charge, just not staying on unless it's plugged in.

So if anyone has had this happen before what did you end up having to replace? i don't want to end up ordering a battery and screwdrivers just to end up needing a new mobo or something. Thanks.

Oh i'd also like to add that the screen and all three buttons still work just fine. My music even loaded without issue and the music that was on it before the wash was still there.

It does sound like the battery, but you are wise not to guess. You can get it diagnosed (free) and parts or parts and labor from rapidrepair.com

I seem to remember something about them not diagnosing/fixing any water-damaged devices. You may want to email/call them before you send it just in case.

I just checked their site. They emphasize they accept 'ALL' zune models for diagnostics, and I can't find any fine print about water damage.
